1. TEAM MALAYSIA
CHARM the association decided to send a team to Australia to compete in 'AUS Cheer', which will be held in Queensland. An open audition was held to select cheerleaders to form a new team to represent Malaysia in the said competition. 6 of our members went, and we made it into the team. yay! ^_^ but only because there aren't many others who auditioned, since a prerequisite for auditioning is that one must be able to fork out at least rm1500 for the trip to Australia. Total budgeted cost is actually rm3000 per person, but everyone on the team had made tremendous efforts in searching for sponsors, so we make the sacrifice of paying only half of the actual cost per person. Really want to thank the people who managed to get the sponsorships.
Clarification: it's not that we're very well off, that 6 of us are able to fork out rm1500 just like that for this competition. it's more like we decided that, ok-lar, we'll go for the experience. aih, we're now faced with the prospect of being in a penniless state for the months after returning from Australia.... :p
So here we are, training for the competition which is in what, 3 weeks time? o_o;;; still a long way to go to acceptable standards.
There are 18 of us in the team and we've decided to compete under the name 'Team Malaysia'. We will be performing at Cheer'09. pressure much... -_-;
2. JUNIORS' DEBUT ;p
we had a performance at Great Eastern Mall on 5th & 7th of June (a Friday and a Sunday) in conjunction with an environmental fair with the tagline, 'Go Green!' :) Out of the 8 who performed, 6 were our younger members who have never performed a cheerleading routine with us before. And this performance also showcases new stunts, which we have experimented with but never properly pursued in mastering them. So whee! Not too bad for first-time performers ;p still need to polish up on showmanship and running a clean routine, though. But we're still very proud of you guys :D
somehow nobody took any pictures of the performance or at least of the performers at the event... so yar...no pictures. sowee :p
3. BONDING TIME
A bunch of us went to Sunway Lagoon again, last friday (12 June '09). The whole thing was not properly planned, though, unlike our previous 'team bonding times'. It had been a tentative idea only, until the night before when KimSwee started asking everyone to be at Sunway Lagoon the next morning. We were unable to reach some members and so, they missed out on the fun.... -_-;; sorry guys :(
also no pictures for this cos everybody malas to lug a camera around the amusement park :p hrm... this will not do. need to take more pictures for memories sake lah :P will try to be more diligent in this matter :D
K-lah. That's it for now. Till next time.
