after months of training, injuries (literally blood. sweat. and tears.), planning and stressing (especially on the captain's part).
anyway, here's a chronology of events on wednesday...
3.00pm a phone call was received from one of the event's committee members, informing waimin about the competition being canceled.
3.05pm waimin called kimswee to inform him of what has happened.
6.00pm an sms was received from a friend who was involved in the organizing of the competition, confirming the cancellation. an apology was included and the fact that, apparently, a team from indonesia had even bought their air tickets already o.o;;;
at this point, reality has yet to sink in.
7.00pm arrived early for practice. rujin was the next earliest to arrive and so was informed about the turn of events. she also went into denial and started uttering high-pitched shrieks for about half and hour at 3minute time intervals due to disbelief.
7.30pm we called the committee member again and asked why????? we were told that there were several reasons but there are two main factors
#1 CHARM [Cheerleading Association and Registrar of Malaysia] has just implemented a ruling that all cheerleading competitions must be sanctioned by them, among other new rules that they're imposing on the cheerleading scene in msia. Cheer Emas has not gotten CHARM's approval and so, CHARM is withholding its members (and it seems also that they telling other secondary schools' teams to not participate as well) from participating in the competition. This results in the competition not having enough participants to proceed.
#2 the sponsors of the event have pulled out due to how the competition is turning out.
8.00pm the news was broken to unbelieving team members. the general response, as observed, was one of absolute shock and the loss of speech. people (mostly, the females) started whipping out cameras and someone comments, ' how come everyone brought cameras? it's like you guys knew about this beforehand o.o'
we started taking pictures of the stunts we'd labourously pracitsed for the past few months. camwhore session officially started after the stunts session.
9.00pm a dodgeball-like game was played. first team to win 3 games wins the thing. kimswee and ahkit started choosing members for their sides.
kimswee: ivan, yenshan, ahwah, ivy, kahmun, rujin, waimin
ahkit: hanchong, kim ing, shaun, liwen, ayu, aminur, shanny, yeong

9.30pm ahkit's team won 3-2. the team that lost had to dance for the entire duration of the next song on the radio. practice was dismissed...
